My Mammy, Mary Timmons was sent to St Patrick’s Home, run by the Daughters of Charity on the Navan Road. It was there that she gave birth to my baby sister Linda Timmons on 11th April. My Mammy wrote in her own words ”My daughter Linda was born on 11th April in St Pat’s a home on the Navan Road. It was a sunny day she was delivered by a nun. Linda’s little legs were so thin. Linda was a beautiful girl with red hair and blue eyes but when she was three, she got very sick. There was no saving her. She passed away on 12th June, I hope Linda is in heaven now praying for me. To me she will always be a little angel.”
This week the Commissions report come’s out – out of the 18 institutions investigated for this report , 9,000 children died , 1 in 7 or 15% – Did there lives matter? I hope the publication of the report will begin a process of truth telling and healing. I hope there is prompt action to help all survivors. Linda‘s life mattered!
