(Clondalkin , Newcastle , Rathcoole ) to also ask that a discussion be brought to the next area meeting under a headed item.”
REPLY:
the update on the Play Space Programme 2014 – 2018 for the Clondalkin Electoral Area is as follows:
CLONDALKIN | |||
Location | Type | Timescale | UPDATE |
Rathcoole Park | Local | 2014 | Open |
Knockmitten Park | Neighbourhood | 2014 | Open |
Letts Field, Neilstown | Local | 2015 | Consultation in progress |
Quarryvale Park | Local | 2015 | Consultation and design agreed. To be tendered |
Newcastle | Neighbourhood | 2015 | No site available until new park constructed by Receiver. |
In relation to the behaviour of older children and teenagers in the play spaces provided: the experience has been relatively good in both of the provided play spaces. There have been some instances of some minor problems. In the case of the Knockmitten play space the success of this is due to the engagement of the local community and in particular to the engagement of the staff of the local community centre.
It is proposed to undertake a review of the programme later in 2015 and the issue of providing facilities for teenagers will be considered in this review.
